Write Your Autobiography

Hello Dear Reader!

People stress the importance of having a will. In this post, I will stress the importance of writing your autobiography.

While I was in University, with about one year left in my Ph.D., I ran into a Professor in the elevators. He asked me if I had started writing up my Ph.D. thesis. After I told him that I had not, he informed me that it was very important to start writing up early, so that I could see what experiments should have been done, before it became too late to perform them. I took his advice, and I was glad that I did, because he was right!

I wrote up a memoir/autobiography of my life in 2011. At the time, it seemed like the most important phases and experiences of my life were behind me. After I wrote it, I realized after several days of satisfaction with the work, that I was not happy with the ending of the book. This was a serious issue, given that the book was about my life! Shortly after that, I decided to take my life in a new direction, and I was happy I did.

What would a factual, honest autobiography or memoir of your life reveal to you? How will you know if you don’t write it? No one else need ever read it, however, if you do publish it, perhaps many people would.

All the best!

Bruce
